What a majestic Earth!
Astronauts love watching Earth.
They float over to the Cupola, with its panoramic windows, and watch as they fly over cities, mountains, rivers and storms. At night, they see humanity revealed in the bright lights of cities around the world. They see shimmering aurora, dramatic storm clouds, erupting volcanoes, and retreating glaciers.
They take hundreds of photos every day. Scientists select some targets. But most are opportunistic – astronauts capturing the sheer beauty and drama of our home planet. Every day, they send the latest photos to Earth, enticing us to see Earth with their eyes.
These photos are a precious gift to humanity, from our representatives in space. And YOU can explore them all here.
